Yes, woodpeckers...I think this is a Acorn Woodpecker on my job site

Ive got a video of this Lil guy chowing down...surprised they can even fly after all the beetles there eating! lol

The perfect storm has basically released an abundance of natural predictors of the pines here in the Sierra nevada.
Drought, poor soils, over crowded, over grown, warm winters.
 
I love the look of that blue stain.

Scott, Are these pines weakened from the kill? I'm sure the decayed stems after time get mushy like normal. They're just under the bark right?

Do you guys get Pine pitch canker up there? It's nuking pines here.
They can get doughy.

Bo, they are still pretty solid, they dry out fast in summer and dont seem to get mushy in winter months unless they have been left for a few years.

The Tops will snap off in a good wind though, they get brittle up in the smaller sections.

Yep, just under bark.

No pine pitch canker here, not in my area that I know.

Garrett of Unique Arbor was across the street working so grilled up 3 more dogs for them....I think Garrett's ground crew wants to work for me now..lol
