In The News...

Irish folk song done by the Dropkick Murphys, about a guy stealing food for his kid and getting transportation. Poverty isn't the cause of crime, but can make people who wouldn't normally commit them desperate enough to do so. What happens when most jobs are replaced by technology and there's no more work? Wtf are your kids gonna do?

Lol my post wasn't directed at you personally at all, it was a general statement about where our kids might find themselves. Technology is advancing at record paces, exponentially speeding up, and I think that in time human labor will not be needed the way it is now. Many of the great minds in the last 100 years have predicted the same. If we watch what has happened to the industries already being replaced by technology, the skilled aspect is dumbed down so the average person can be taught it quickly, then in time they come up with a machine to do even that. Tree work used to require climbing knowledge, rigging, and manual tools. Now it can be done by a guy standing in a lift holding a chainsaw, doing minimal rigging, or can even be dismantled completely by machine, without a human ever actually touching the tree. Logging has advanced in even more leaps and bounds. Farming used to require someone to drive the combine, now they are controlled by gps. Eventually every skilled and unskilled job will be done by robot, and then what will billions of people do for money? We need a new system, and it will happen one way or another. Getting mad at the first round of losers in this game is counter productive imo.

I didn't take it personally!

I can't find the link but in our news this last week they mentioned that the powers that be have found a direct link between welfare paydays and overdose drug deaths. Sooooo, put that in your crack pipe and smoke it. Seriously. The 72hrs or so immediately following assistance paydays there is a huge measurable spike in overdose deaths.

So not only is part of my tax money being dolled out to those in need. They are then taking that money in large enough numbers and putting it into drug dealers hands that now it's a measured fact that Od's are spiking and then costing all of us a fortune more in emergency response, care, morgues, whatever.

Here's a link.

Surely it?s cheaper in the long term if they die sooner rather than later? The likelihood is that the huge majority will never be fully functioning taxpayers.

Just thinking aloud, not being callous gratuitously.

Sounds like an assumption. My assumption is that for every person the government helps, they hurt two more. Modern welfare has done more to destroy the black communities in America than any other single cause. Again, my assumption. IMO one needs to look past the immediate gratification and look at the long term results of government actions. Welfare is a perfect example. The TSA is another example.

My assumption is that maybe you need to take a trip to Europe and look around a bit.
We have NOWHERE near the problems you do with blacks or poor people of any other colour.
Even though we are what to you would be socialists.
How come?

"Bob" you don't need to tell me that we are being overrun by Africans and Arabs.
I know that and we are doing our best to fix it.
When you've fixed your own illegal immigrant problems, you can point fingers at us.

The problem is there's just more and more little drug addicts growing up all the time. I could gas if they kill themselves. I don't like the idea of paying for it and having it burden our already stretched medical systems. I'd be much cooler with it if we didn't have to send out a wambulance and paramedics each time.

I guess it’s a debate for another thread.

On a national economic scale having your biggest productive demographic, ie. Men between 20 and 50 dying after you’ve paid to educate them etc. is bad for business.

So you tell me you have no problem with poor people of any color but in your very next sentence you tell Bob that you know you are being overrun with Africans and Arabs? Seems a bit contradictory there.

I sort of mixed to subjects that have nothing to do with each other, Brian.
Because "Bob" likes to bring the migrant problem up every time I point out the virtues of socialism.
Apparently in his mind, good old capitalists have no immigrant problems, which makes me wonder why there is a need to build a wall on the Mexican border and where all the illegal Chinese and other asians in the US fit into that theory?

That overdose spike surely had nothing to do with for profit drug companies knowingly pushing addictive opiates on the population to make some bucks. The real criminal drug dealers wear suits and lab coats

Yah if that's in regards to what I posted. No it isn't from lab coats. It's dirty street drugs that are killing addicts. Fentanyl and carfentanyl.

People are to stupid to be handed free money.

I've been prescribed OxyContin before by the evil doctors and guess what? When I saw how powerfully addictive they were I set them down and stopped using them. What a concept.

I really have a hard time finding mercy for addicts within myself. I like to smoke a little, drink a little. I'm not about to go live in a ditch or rob people to support these 'habits' though.

No ones to blame for nothing yet we're all free to make our own choices? Ironic.

I find alcoholics and poverty an interesting subject. I had the luck of attending last years rose bowl game where I saw 90,000 very wealthy people drunk off their ass. copious amounts of alcohol flowing everywhere. You could tell it was a daily if not weekly form of entertainment for these disgusting people. these people were wealthy so their drinking wasn't a problem. Now in detroit having a drinking problem is the difference between sleeping on the street and in a house. One of the nice things about being rich is that you can drink yourself to smithereens and you can just "pay" for the consequences. For a poor person who likes to drink a bit you get no margin.

maybe good for them. do you like hanging out near vomit stained belligerent fat people yelling about football? I would rather hang out with the homeless guy who begs for a dollar to get his daily 22 oz can of Milwaukee's best any day.
