Can't sleep with the storm coming in...
So a few more...
Dave starting up the tree everyone nicked named the General. 50"DBH and 175' tall. This tree would be another gin pole to remove two other trees on the house. Hobbs attached to it....... DSCI0837.jpg IMG_0961ed.JPG DSCI0841.jpg
Once stripped, block was set at 150' to service these two trees on the corner of the house.
The larger on the two was dubbed The Beast. 165' at 44 DBH. Marm tree. The smaller was almost as tall and had the service line tacked to it. Dubbed ..... @#$@%@%@$!$! and a few other colourful phrases. IMG_0966.jpg
And I have no idea WHY that one won't go up and down.. sorry...

Same here with the storm Stephen. Good time to catch up on this thread the last hour or two, really nice job

Pics are great, tells a story, wow BIG JOB. I can't help but want to come over and play, someday anyway for sure. That last one is huge!

Vino
I did a quick calculation based on this thread's title and came up with 35K.

Jomo

Sly devil.l. ;)
Second burning at my disposal site of the slash/duff
We gave about an additional amount away to gardeners. Not to mention chips. We set up accounts that wanted them to make oppour trips shorter.

No way to wraptor up that beast?

He wanted to gaff up it. I just set a high TIP at about 70-75 feet to make it easier. I will have some Wraptor footage or pictures later in the sequence. Dave likes to earn the tree. Just a thing. Given he used to work and live in Humboldt, 50" DBH aint all that ;) .
Besides, now that he lives in AZ, he never gets to climb pigs like these. So for him... its a good thing..

Here is some of the Garden Path Gin Pole work we did before the crane came in ....
Mike Martella was running the ropes. He had rolled his ankle, so I had him ground a lot after that. But he got to the crane picks. Those too soon in the line.
You can see Mike getting used to the KK bollard and getting smoother as the vid goes on. He was pretty much stacking them on the side of the driveway on the swing by the next tree.

Sweet work, Stephen.

Rolling right along.

Those straight up and down pines are a fun tree to work.

Big Cheers to you and your crew....when I quit my day job...I'd love to come help if you ever need it.

I had thought about calling in Scott, Brian and yourself Deva to help with this thing. First day it was everything for the ground crew to keep up with three climbers. Would have been a great time. If you need work sometime, just give me a hollar. Help you out with what I can Brother. Just returned a call on a 50 tree job I have to go estimate. See what comes mang. Would be a friggen blast!

Once the Zip lining in the garden path area was done.. It was gin poled down to manageable for the crane. Crane will pick 5. Spars in the driveway had to go, felled those and the 120 foot gin pole had to be chunked down to be thrown as well.... Meanwhile... Dave was on the other side of the house dismantling with the Hobbs...
I had Wraptored up the General and placed a block at 150 feet after Dave stripped the tree and topped it. Then I had stuff to do myself ;)

Setting up the pole next to Dave and the service side of the house. Service was fixed to the tree. It is serving as the service pole until PG&E will replace it.
