45 dead trees on one acre.. All within reach of houses, street, power lines, septic systems, water and other utilities.
Trying to save all she had left in the way of green trees. Some fruit and ornamentals as well.
Pretty much make the dead smaller to fit, climb and rig most of them.
Largest was measured out as 50" DBH at 175' tall. Most were at 100' plus. Some smaller ones came down easy to make room for the larger wood.
I will just keep posting stuff and some narration as I go. Tons of pictures and video.
Enjoy.
Climbers were David Byrnes (thattreeguy), Mike Martella (mountainmike), Stephen (me).
Ground crew, Robert Goodman, Mike Richardson, Jason Drusin and Louis Trotter.
Crane... Sam of Oakhurst Crane 15 ton.
Excavator ..... Don McCracken
Tractor and log trailer... Dale Johnson.
Photographer, Katy Goodman.
It begins
Enjoy....

First pic is of the precious Dogwood we had to work around. Her momma planted it... It survives unscathed from the events surrounding it.

Cool looking job, very good pics and at least with the dead ones there's very little sap to deal with. I'm sure there was some friendly (but safe) competition going with three climbers on the same job. The camaraderie of a team of guys like that can make a job fun.

Wow lot going on! IMO you need to rig up a tarp on that dump trailer to make it better to blow chips in. Would just take some 1" PVC pipe and a $50 mesh tarp then no more mess

Glad you are busy, I have just slowed down

Good grief, Stephen.....is that ALL the pics you got? I was expecting more than that? :P

Great pics!

Wow. I wish they'd hurry up and get that tunnel from Europe to the Us dug.
That would have been fun to help out with. Looks like you could have gotten some use out of a logger used to making tight shots.

I see Rob is still struggling with the concept of hard hats:lol:

Man, looks like up the hill from me Stephen, lots of beatle kill still going on here as well....nice work and nice set of pics!!!

Oh, if you add bacon to a western bark beatle sandwich, they taste pretty good...lol..;) ;)
