Not tree climbing, but this is the most powerful vid I've seen in a long time.
I certainly will think ahead & slow down a little before doing various potential dangerous jobs.:O

A B.C. climber fell to his death 2 days ago. His name is Wes Hawley who owns a tree service company in the lower B.C. mainland.
It appears his steel core lanyard gave way at the snap connection.
 
I switched to the Yale steel core without the crimped connection as some of the cheaper brands have. Also a swivel snap connection that I use on the Yale puts less stress on the cable too.
 
That sucks about Wes, especially if that is really how it happened

That's terrible. Thoughts n prayers to his family. I wish we could know more details how that happened, so we can learn from it. I have a very old steel core flipline I bought from a retired lineman that I have used a few times, now I am afraid to, even though it looks solid to me.
