M and I have recently returned from a truly magnificent visit to BC and Alberta, spent a couple of weeks day hiking and sightseeing in Banff, Jasper, Yoho, and Kootenay National Parks. A real bucket list sort of place to visit, friends. We had a ball, and the weather was more than tolerable...we specifically chose to go in October as that is between high seasons, so less traffic on the trails and roads, and less expensive. Some drizzle and snow a few days, but mostly dry and just cool.

Here's some pics...I'll probably drag these out over a few posts, just for my own convenience, so thanks in advance for tolerating that.

Great pictures, Burnham.
They evoke a lot of memories for me, I went through there on the way to and from Alaska in 87.
Good to have you back in the House:)

Is that a Crazy Creek folding chair I see tied to the pack by your lady? I have one the with the exact same colors.
Bucket list is an understatement! WOW the place is beautiful!

You have it correctly, Rajan. We both carry one on most of our trips afield, especially overnights. Been doing so for a couple of decades now. I call them the no. 1 geriatric backpackers aid :D. Those CC chairs have been to some beautiful places.

Insane pics!!!!!!

What kinda bird is that?

Geez B, you didn't even call.

Looks like you had a great trip!

But I did think about you and yours, Justin :). Not sure I even know your location, beyond inland BC. Not that you need to specify.

But we are already talking about a return visit next fall, see some more of that country. Drop me a pm if you've a mind to, maybe we can hook up :).

I'm not to far from there about three hours give or take, depending on the local. I could send ya my contact info now or if it is easier so it doesn't get buried or lost just let me know if you're heading up this way again and I will then. It'd be an honor Burnham. You had my info many years back when you sent me a signed(your signature) copy of Dents book. Very much a prized possession.

Well then, I probably still have it somewhere, Justin. I'd forgotten that. If I can't locate it, I'll drop you a pm. I'll surely keep y'all in mind for our next trip north.

And loving having the freedom to enjoy this part of our lives...good health and reasonable resources are a true blessing.

Very nice Burnham, your a very talented photograper...beautiful shots which show how big those mountains really are.
It's been a few years since myself and my family have been out in the Rockies, looking at your pics makes me itching to go back for a visit. When you get up north to Jasper you sure notice the bigger size of mountains up there.

My old Swiss logging partner Franz told me a story when he tried to convince his father in Switzerland to come over to Canada and pay a visit. Only when Franz told him "You think our mountains at home are big and vast, come and see the Canadian Rockies." His father wasn't disappointed. ha.

Squasher, I am about 4 hours from you so if'n you get the chance I demand to ride shotgun to meet the Burnhams. I can bring an extra hammock for you to camp out in, if needed. ;-)
