North Central Montana, bloody cold!
Hopefully some of you get an earful from your kids when the local firefighters give a talk or put on a program at school.

At the very least, check your smoke detectors, please. They really do save lives. The smoke will not wake you up, it puts you to sleep.

If you don't have smoke detectors, get some. They have some that never need a battery change for the life of the detectors, 10 years.

Respectfully yours,

Fire Fighter Zero.

Thanks for the reminder Jim. I went into a blaze once to pull someone out of it, and even a person that i didn't like. I must have been nuts. Hardly want to repeat it.

Anything that makes it easier to survive a fire is a good thing. If I ever build a new house, it is going to have sprinklers.

I found some stats that I use when talking to people. In 2011 the US had just over 3000 deaths from fire and 11.7 billion dollars in damage.

With a family of six dying this week on the east coast, it kinda goes to show.

All new homes here in PA have mandatory fire suppression systems. It's a good thing but drives up the cost of building for sure.
