Does anyone know of a spike with good grip on the metal plate under the boot. On technical removals with hard bark I find myself slipping. Thinking of welding some on! Ideas , techniques?

Ya they are heavy but I do like the angle of the spike and when I climb my adrenaline makes me hardly notice them.

Take a wrap around the shank with the ankle strap to see if that helps or maybe a different boot with a bigger heal.

I can't say I've ever really noticed the weight of my steel spurs, must like Stephen showed.

Frax on TB gave a tip that I've not heard. If you are on a slippery limb, wrap it with a nylon runner for grip under foot.

Just my opinion that most climbing line damage happens from climbing gaffs.

Which is why I try and route all lines below me through a biner or loop on the back of my saddle.

I know, you guys never gaff a climbing or lanyard line!

I believe yu!
