Does Anyone Need Any Gear?

Welcome to the treehouse Steve! Cheers to your dream:cool:

All things heavenly rarify to air. Trèès pŕoduce that heavenly air. Breathe air and take care.

Welcome Steve! You're still a kid compared to a lot here that are still climbing. Sorry about your Dad, lost mine to the same thing, bad stuff indeed. Get good gear and go for it.

HI there, I'm Fi...if you do a search there is beginners tree climbing tips thread in the Climbing forum. Some bright spark might be able to post a link.
I've been on here a few years, and this place has taught me SO much, and the discussions are great no matter what level you are at.
Welcome to the canopy!

MAN......i have to admit......holidays have me busy.......no time to get on the 'puter.....also...i really have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to this forum stuff.
I AM still here,...just trying to sort it all out, and figure stuff out..
Hope everyone has a good and SAFE new year.

V.

Should be getting my latest order within the hour. Decided to get a foot ascender to assist with getting in the tree. Will probably be attempting a bit of srt soon and figure that out

SRT is definitely the way to go. South Sound and Bermy sold me on the HH this past year, I think it was their constant posts about it.... kinda like some sort of torture and you have to give in.... ;)

Foot ascender, knee ascender some good rope, almost looks like I know what I'm doing. Had a small line clearing job on private property on New Year's day, windy about 30Km winds gusting up to 60km. Took longer to get warm clothes on than it did to ascend twice and cut limbs.

Yeah I've been holding out for a long time. I'm gonna have to be self taught also as no one I work with seems to want to get beyond a taught-line hitch. I'm getting tired of foot locking.

Haha nice one treebilly. I was also self taught on srt, same thing, guys I worked for were set in there ways and I felt like I couldn't progress. I did ALOT Of reading on forums about it until it made sense in my head. Then when I went out to try it, wasn't so alien to me. Let us know if there's anyway we can help you if you'd like tips or advice.

I wonder what's up with Nick??? He hasn't logged on in a week and he hasn't answered my email.

???

Gotta love Treestuff. I got my order a few weeks ago and I always get a few loop runners to get me to a nice even price. I must of clicked on the orange ones. My receipt said out of stock but they were substituted with red ones. No big deal. I got home last night and there was a box with the orange ones plus a couple accessory caribiners. Thanks guys. They really didn't need to do that. Deeply appreciated though

Sooo.....im thinking HH.....one question i have, is the thing 304-316, Aluminium, or standard CS ?

That is kinda my deciding factor now.....

I just feel that, there really is NO OTHER place that i will publicize and solely patronize, than TREESTUFF.COM

Im sure the other merchandizers carry different gear, but with all my "Newb-ness" questions and bank acct BS problems at the exact time i placed my initial order, (id theft), all them Treestaffers have 100% respect from me, and probably all those I've turned on to em, as well.

Treestuff RAWX.

Anyone have any opinions on the HH, or just stick with my DrT, HC pulley, and e2e.

I am currently climbing Drt, hip thrusting, for rec only, and only hip thrusting to about 35'-40' to first rung, but still want to have capability of going SRT waaayyy up if need be. ;)

Also, i kid of like the idea of being all compact (climbing system) when i walk out a limb, and I'm spending way to much time hooked up, and messing around on the GROUND trying to get everything all streamlined into a nice, tight, package. I mean, who DOESNT appreciate one of THOSE, RIGHT?????
:D:D:D:thumbup:

Allright Ya'll....lemme hear your opinions.

Much Thanks.

Stevo,

I'm climbing on a hybrid system composed of an srt line fitted with a DMM Pinto Rig Pulley. My drt line runs through the Pinto Rig pulley. (This pulley is clearly marked for CLIMBING USE ONLY).

This hybrid system addresses and cures two problems in one simple package. The first issue was safety and rescue. I wanted a system that my helpers could use to get me down out of a tree in an emergency, with little or no training. The Srt line and base tie addresses this issue. The second problem was with isolating my climbing line and removing the unwanted branches from between the two lines of the drt system. Hoisting the drt system into the tree with the srt line was an instant cure to the isolation problem.

I still climb on the drt system using a the DMM hitch climber pulley and a prusik, but I'm now using a DMM Pinto Rig pulley as my top anchor point. Super smooth. Extremely fast to set up. No more isolating the two drt climbing lines. No more worries about emergency rescue.

Should I ever need to be rescued from the tree, my ground workers can now undo the carabiner securing the Timber Hitch at the base of the tree and then use the friction of the two wraps of the srt climbing line around the tree to safely lower me to the ground.

Hope this helps.

Joel
