It does! The more I play it the happier I am with it.

Looks-wise there are several imperfections in the detail finish work, binding joints etc., but that stuff is more decorative than anything else.

I have the action set super low right now as I am not used to fingering a fretted an instrument anymore. I can still pull some pretty good tone from it now...can hardly wait to hear what it sounds like when i raise it u a bit in a few months.

Next project is getting the bridge glued back down on my guitar...

Set it & forget it.

It's nice to have the ability to adjust for different situations or weather sometimes...

This is an interesting bass... you can adjust the string width. I've never seen that before! Ibanez, 1500 bucks.

Damn! These bongos are SWEET! Heavy as a mofo - no holding them between the legs for sure. They REALLY sound good when sticks are used.

Now you need a stand so you can shake your moneymaker while you play them.

That Cajon would make a nice end table even if you didn't play it very often.

Did you watch the video? I've always thought of them as just a hollow box you banged on, but they are definitely more than that!

Very cool! Nice article!

Interesting how he mixed woods in his instruments....don't see that diverse of a number of species in a single instrument very often.

Found an ad for one of his banjos and a video of someone playing it.

Here is a documentary done on Andy.

His mother’s brother Charlie Stump inspired him to learn the banjo and also taught him how to build them. When I was 6, 7 and 8 I spent my summers and most weekends “working” for Uncle Charlie and Aunt Minnie doing yard work and odd jobs. Charlie tried his hardest to get me to learn banjo but I didn’t want any part of it, made my fingers bleed. I was just happy to watch him play while I picked weeds in his pride and joy strawberry patch. Charlie died while I was in school on Friday October 30, 1964. Didn’t learn about it till the next morning when I went back to spend the weekend. Kinda messed me up, tried not to get close to people after that. When the leaves are off the trees this time of year I can see Uncle Charlie and Aunt Minnie’s House from mine, I try not to look.
