Jet heaters

They make fumes. If you have diesel equipment and live in a cold area, they are great. Put a huge tarp over your chipper and put the torpedo heater under the tarp close to the oil pan and run it. Warms the oil and helps make a stubborn diesel fire.
 
Jay, some good info here from the link below on Btu's per measure of fuel source/type.
Knowing the Btu and input and output you can calculate the cost and run time pretty easily.

Example: 20# propane tanks are roughly 5 US gallons of fuel. 4.11#'s per gal at 60deg F is the conversion factor.
Propane has a Btu output of 92,000 btu's per gallon.
So a direct vent heater that is rated at 75,000 btu's will run for just over 6 hours on a 20# tank.

Example: 5 US gallons of kerosene. Fuel output 135,000 per gal.
75,000 btu direct vent heater, 5 gals would last 9 hours.
