Carabiner fasten knot for DdRT application

Sean, I also have come to that conclusion, at least what you can cover yourself. A crane came to a job once and when I checked out the wedge socket that holds the whole hook shabang to the cable, I saw that the bolt and nut that are part of the fastening system was so loose that I could spin it with my fingers. I think it was grounds for tearing the crane operator's head off. I don't know why, but i didn't say anything, just tightened it myself. No way, Jose.

If you're going to use a large loop like a bowline or figure eight, I'd girth hitch the loop to the carabiner to minimize/avoid and side loading. I think a bowline with a "finish" would probably be the best in that application.

im a fan of the anchor hitch when i do ddrt....but i dont use a hitch climber pully i have one but dont like it all up in my face so i go with a cmi and hook both beaners to my ring on rope bridge....
