Your opinion about the spurs ...

They look fine but I would reshape that point to a more of a blunt tip so you are able to pull they out.

I don't know about the blunt part, but I'd knock that needle point off them.

The pads look OK if you don't weigh more than 150 lbs.

They're nothing to write home about...

The minimalist pads look like they might cause pain, and I dunno what to think about the bent shank yellow ones.

Is the shin cup reinforced with metal? If it's just a leather strap, that's going to hurt.
Almost any way you look at an L pad it's still an L pad, Hell Pad. Then the upgrade T pad, Those are bad too.

In my opinion...

The two short (non-L) pads have a steel insert. It's what I like ... can stand them for hours. The steel insert can be bent to fit your shin. Agree on them all being too pointed.

Edit: There should be a length (height) adjustment. The first two don't.

I am sure Andrew does not feel pain. If he does he should buy some of these:

What kind are those? Edit: OK, Climb rite. What makes them special?

Re Andy's picture, aren't the second pair down from the top offset??
