Motorcycling.

I'm doing an Enduro in the end of May....450 miles. ......Ukiah to Lost coast on fire roads and single track.....I'm riding my ktm 525 with the soft seat...

That sounds freaking awesome!

450 miles sounds incredibly tough. Bad ass you are Deva. Best of luck to ya. My son was riding hare scrambles here in NY around the Finger Lakes. I think they were about 80 miles.

I did 80 on a bicycle. My ass was sore for days. Gotta work up to that distance, not just jump in. I was young and dumb.

I might be old and still dumb or oblivious.

Hare scrambles are pretty incredible. Serious strength required.
I've never raced one. Good on you for helping your kid moto.
I really want to get the boy a 50 soon, but people want so much for them.

Put new tires on and took my wheels to the machinist to swap the bearings, better now than on the trail.
Later this week I'll change the oil and should be good....maybe check valves.

How old is your boy Deva?

A friend of mine got his oldest boy a 50, and he is 9. My daughter is 7 and they make a quad that is recommended for 6 and up, I think it is like 2100 bucks. Seems like a lot, but after it goes through all three kids, I suppose it would be good value.

I think it is a great idea to start them early.

I had a Trail 90 and a Kawasaki 100 when I was 8 or 9. I was big for my age though, imagine that.

Fishing pole and a .22, growing up sucks!

Seriously some huge advantages to being in Montana.

Moto, .22 and fishing pole sounds perfect.
When I was a kid I lived in South Carolina, we fished for catfish in the creek out back.
Never got the .22, but a pellet gun, still got it....Probably give it to Nico someday.
Though his mom and grandma are forces to reckon with in this arena.

Nico turns six on Labor Day. He's pretty big for his age.
Looking online at craigslist a 50 goes for about a grand.
I'll end up sooner or later buying it for him.....

Last night my wife asked me about MSF Moto Safety Foundation class....
It's great to get your license through them, they provide bike, class time, field time and drive test for DMV....
and big discount on your insurance....So, then I gotta get her a bike and the boy and then it's not called
"Daddy's going riding" anymore but "Family camping".....At least that's the idea so far.

Not sure if I'm selfish for riding, but at lest I just put buddy pegs on my XR for my wife on date night.

Not selfish for riding, except when you cross the median in blind curves.

But we've been there before, haven't we.

I'll bring pictures back.....I'm out and back Monday.....Garberville Enduro......450 miles....Calling for Rain and Snow.

Haha! I'm so dumb for fun.

Yes. Full trip accomplished.

Went down a couple times in the dirt.....and about a 60' low side on a wet right hander razzed my muffler a bit.....and my klim pants. That's why you wear it.

So crazy. Usal Rd was amazing all the way to Usal Beach with 4 huge elk in the picture.

Riding into Bull creek was sureal with the redwoods.....

I've always wanted one of those, they are such cool and under appreciated bikes, they just keep pulling!
