Tree felling vids

clip saw onto line and zip it down to ground man, who throws shock waves into the line to slow it before it kills him.

You'll see me zip trim saw at 5:37 in this vid.

What is "saw zipping?"

It's kinda like Eli zippin....as he did long ago...without a braking control line.....damn near wore his hands to the bone.... they were rather scorched, raw and bleeding....his gaff shank was bent, his leg hurt a bit, and my Dolmar 7900 cracked a handle....(still unfixed and working 8 years later....) And Eli's gone on to run his own successful company.

I found the raw video on one of 4 hard drives on this computer, and edited it down a bit, cut the sound, as it wasn't pretty. It's been almost 9 years. Never published it till now in deference to Eli's request.....

Squeeze play was a tight lay. He hit the sweet spot!

I'd like to know more about the situation, and how you came to a consensus to drop it.

It was only way to get the log out. I suppose we could have further limbed and topped it... but that wouldn't have looked as cool....and the log could have bounced to either side. I recall it scaled out at about 2400 board feet..... but there were a lot of knots which hurt the grade...and pay. I recall not charging much for the job. The logs were supposed to be enough. They weren't. I should have told the customer ahead of time how much I wanted, in total. I think I came up about $400 short of the goal.
