I think you mean to leave the intake rough, Andy. Some older saws have tiny bumps on the intake port to increase the turbulence, made that way.

I guess you could take off the muffler and swab the exhaust port with the carbon remover too. Good idea on using that stuff, Chris. Wonder if it is available here or something similar? Lots of chemical type goods won't get mailed overseas, I guess they fear that something could go wrong and...

Never knew of that, will definitely want to try it. Thanks.

I find a similar thing, Chris, a thin and relatively tough coating. Top of the combustion chamber as well. I wish there was a way to dissolve carbon without having to disassemble the saw.

Breaking down....I know what you mean, Bill. My post wasn't meant to put any operation down. When I was reading a lot about porting, polishing the exhaust was a controversial topic. I wish there was definitive information.. I will say that a well polished port is a pretty thing and requires...

I'm not knowledgable about the the sound with a pipe, but am under the impression that when accelerating when not in the cut, you should be hearing a wee bit of 4 stroking. When going for max cut speed, do you lean out your saw, thinking that in the cut the revs are going to be down, so thinner...

Like to hear it more with the revs stretched out, but that 372 in the vid sounds a bit too lean.

I remember when electric starters entered the motorcycle world. It was a big thing, just sitting there to go vroom. Saws would be cool. Great if you can sort out linkage problems with larger carbs, and there is room. Can't go too big though, unable to lean it out enough is what I found.

I have a highly modified Husky that was like twelve pulls. It really should have a larger carb on it now or bigger jets or sumpin. Running a tad richer and shortening the hose seemed to help, now it is like 8-10 pulls. Ornery cuss is my favorite saw. Sometimes taking a break between...
