    All time favorite saw

I would guess that most folks in various countries know nothing about a performance increase that can be done with a saw, so with no other experience to compare to, they think the current slew of equipment is state of the art in terms of power. I know that is almost the total case where I live...

I'm sure you could get some fine results tinkering with the 038, Al. Nice to know the saw has the potential.

I've been running an 038 magnum recently, but it fails to impress with anything longer than a 24" bar. Probably because it is still stock. The 034 with the modded 036 pac on it, I'm still loving that for the torque. If such an animal came with a manual, I think the severe kickback potential...

I have a 460, not so much really mine, but a guy left it with me to use and keep. Funny deal, he says I take better care of his saws than he wants to, the 460 and an 038 magnum, so he leaves them with me to use. He might come and get one for a week or two, then will bring it back dirty. I...

It might take two guys to carry it up to the third floor, but in terms of workmanship, the 090G is a fine example of dedicated saw making. Museum quality, I think.

I have never heard a bad word said about a Stihl 076, other than they are somewhat heavy and take up room in the bed of your truck, being a wide saw. A step down from the 090 in ccs, but just about any bar that the larger saw will adequately power, so will the 076. They have an uncanny ability...

034 with a modded 036 top end is a mean motor scooter too, pretty awesome torque. I used to use it more, lesser since I think it has damaged my ears.

Yes, what attracted me to it in the beginning. Modded now, and awhile since I checked, but 16,000 plus at one point. Only 42ccs, but up to 20" wood it really flies.
