This weird coffee table I made a long time ago, has a Gaboon ebony raised bead, it is very black. I like the ebony with the Purple heart, it is pretty striking. Once upon a time it was easy to get exotic woods like this.

If it is definitely from Africa, it probably is African Ebony or Gaboon Ebony, there are a few different names for it. It looks somewhat more like the Macassar Ebony, which is greater characterized by the lighter mixed with darker as in the photo, but Macassar is from India. Wenge has lighter...
