Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

Taking a branch that big off, isn't going to do the tree any good in the long run. As for the practical part, it seems like there are plenty of pines to use as a TIP and for roping the branch away from the roof. Of course, as we all know, pictures can decieve.

I live in Denmark, dude. Sadly, since I would prefer Norway. Personally I think the giant Redwoods and Sequoias were a product of certain climatic factors ( And lack of chainsaws) that may no longer be there. I don't think we'll see their like again. Jerry Beranek thinks differently, and since...

Here you go: You are talking about the Dawn Redwood Metasequoia Glyptostroboides I killed one of the biggest ones outside China a few years ago. The difference is, you are a contact climber, I am a tree company. I can't afford having it known that I walk from a tree, when I've based my reputation on tackling those trees others walk from. So I price myself out of it instead. Any tree can be felled safely. Sometimes the price just gets too...

I can honestly say that I have never walked from a tree. I have simply explained to the client that what they wanted done would cost a minor fortune and for what reason. There really isn't much that can't be done safely with the aid of a helicopter big enough. Client won't pay for it. Their problem.

You mention the tree having one other major limb. Does that mean that it doesn't have a top. I'm having a hard time visualizing this tree.

That was my feeling, too, when I read your post. Walk away from that one. Or high price yourself out of it. Just remember that when you do that, sometimes they acept your price and then you are still stuck with the job. Happened to me last month, luckily I didn't try to high price myself out of...
