I whipped it before gluing it. Should have mentioned that.

I soaked the tip of the Bee-line in cyano acrylate last night after trimming the core down a bit to make it pointed. Even managed to avoid gluing myself to the worktable. This mornings test makes me think that is the way to do it.

It was for about two minutes, yes. Then it came apart. Superglue sounds promising.

We just used the 10 mm Beeline that you included. We are going to try wrapping the ends in some of that shrink wrap that is used for electrical wiring. Maybe that'll keep it from fraying, because that is the one irritant in the system. I climbed on a hank of Blaze, Richard on something from...

Thanks for the warning/heads up Dave. We have one rookie, the apprentice, but we check on him constantly to make sure he doesn't screw up. I have never had an apprentice hurt, except for one that got whacked by a springpole in storm clean-up back in -99. That is one record I intend to keep. We...

Where is the dinnerplate sized smiley? I'll just have to use a lot of the small ones:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D After being on hold for ½ hr, I finally managed to get through to an actual person in the Royal mail yesterday. And promptly got an apology and a promise that she would personally make sure I...

Paul told me about that, but paying UPS $110 for shipping such a small parcel seemed outrageous.

See, that is what being sue-happy Americans get you:lol: Mine are in the mail and I'm holding my breath waiting for them. I have a medium size spruce takedown at the end of next week that would be perfect for my first SRT job. If only they get here early enough that I can find a tree and...

Most of our arguments here don't, but as long as we are having fun and getting a bit more knowledgeable all is good:)

Truth be told, Burnham, Denmark has Oregon beat , darknesswise, at least in winter and we do damp and muddy pretty good too. Can't seem to grow tall trees, though!

Pretty darned stubborn, ain't ya? What I think Adrian is saying, is that the Valdotâin is not TIED with any braids, it simply braids itself when loaded, Whereas The VT must be braided when tied. You can easily tie a Valdotâin without crossing the cord. As for you not having heard the term...

I think it is the knot known as a Valdotain. Not to be confused with valdotain tresse or VT, since it doesn't have any braids. I seem to remember Jerry B. saying once that he used it for years as his prime climbing knot. He just didn't use the french name for it.

Paul, please give us some advance notice in this thread, when you start selling them. Now that I've gotten the team all excited about starting SRT, I wouldn't want to miss out. I imagine the first batch will sell VERY fast.
