We'll be going to the big "only held every fourth year" ( What di you call that? I know bi-annually, but what is every 4th year called???) trade show. I'll certainly look at the T150 then. And rip Stihl a bleeding a-hole if the have the gall to show off the new MS661, which they pulled back from...

You'd send me home then. The T200 balances nicely with a 12" bar. I have one set up like that for small conifers and stuff like that. No need to drag iron around a tree that you don't need. I have another in the truck with a 16" for when that is needed. Diversity :D

Stephen, I had my dealer rebuild 2 of our t200s last week, rather than buy a new t201. Good prediction, dude!

Doesn't matter. Stupid politics make for bad saws. That is how it is and none of our moaning and bitching about it is gonna chance that. The thing I don't get is that car engines have been throwing out increased power and less pollution per cubic centimeter over the last 15 years, why are 2...

I was thinking of the long handle model. The lack of heated handles is what have kept the pros from buying the predecessor here. I know some people have tried it out for cutting x-mas trees, but frooze their fingers too much, when the trees are snowcovered.

Have they finally gotten around to offering it with the Arctic package?

I don't find the stratos I have any harder to start than the non-stratos. They do, however have to warm up a tad before they really perform. That is even more so with the new Sthl C-class injection models. All I can say, they are worth waiting for. Once warm, they pull like nothing else I've...

Not here Willard. It has always been piecework. I would have quit long ago if it wasn't.

Agreed, Willard. In the good old pulp days I used to toss the saw out every year. The 70 and 90 cc saws I run today runs about 1000 hrs each every year, so they last for 2 years. But it seems to me, saws last better today than back then. Maybe part of that is because the fuel I use is better today.

Weekend cutters! I have already worn 2 strato saws out, my man. I run saws some 2000 hrs/year, for a mid-weight saw like the 441 that means that in 3 years it is ready for the retirement home. Which doesn't mean that it is heading for the secret elephant graveyard of old saws, my dealer will...

I don't get that explanation either. I own a shitload ( well, more like 5!) strato saws and they have all performed well right out of the box. But better after about 2-4 tanks of gas, I must admit. But 30 tanks, no way!

I've been running the MS241c for a week now. While it doesn't take very high RPMs it has an amazing amount of torque for such a small saw. I talked to my dealer about it ( he asked for feedback on the saw, since mine is only the second one sold here) and was told that it automatically makes the...

    MS201T

Easy for me to calculate. Last year I did 8 months of logging. That is running the saw about 40 hrs a week for some 30 weeks. Then I subtracted a bit for those days when we play at being arborists. A 441 lasts me 2-3 years, then it gets swapped for a new one. It is my primary tool, so I want...

The ones on my 441 break about every second year. I just keep extras in the truck, they are easy to exchange, even in the woods. Bear in mind that I put about 1000 hrs on my 441 a year, so they last about 1500-2000 hrs. That is okay IMO.

You are right, Burnham, at day's end those 8% will feel like 80. I was just surprised when I picked them up, that the difference could hardly be felt.

    MS201T

On the weight issue, I have held both of those saws at the same time, one in each hand. Maybe it is just because I'm an insensitive bastard, but I really couldn't feel any difference. After all, it is only 300 grs heavier out of 3900 grs total. That said, I went and bought the last T200 in...

I disagree on that. Back when I ran a lot of apprentices, I'd make a habit of changing the rubber mounts on the apprentice saws every year, because they couldn't hold up to the rough treatment fron newbies who though the best way to deal with a stuck saw, was to just tear it free ( I've had one...

That is something I don't get. Chainsaws are my primary tools. They are what I use to make my living. One will last me 2-3 years, so I really don't care if it cost a few ( or many!) dollars more or less. I just want the best there is!

It is not a question of Stihl wanting to change the T200, but of them being forced to . The environmentalists will get the other brands changed too, eventually.
