Stupid question maybe. But is it possible to add the rotator after if you felt you needed it? Or is it a different animal all together? If there wasnt a significant cost difference to add it later if desired I'd definetly go without.
It was sort of glossed over earlier but how much lift...
I realize that Mick and don't mean to bang on about it. I know you'd whip down to the store and grab one if they were available. Just pointing out what caught my eye. Not trying to poke you in the eye.
That's the problem with all these ratings. How much would you say your machine can lift? An actual 3500pds? If so I'd feel like you've stated, rotate away.
Think of the machine as the lifting power, the plate as the fulcrum and the grapple as the load. 20kg at the plate requires less lifting power to hoist than 20kg out on the dangle grapple. You can say that's either wood or rotator out there on the grapple and what's 20kg either way but IMO...
Still brewing coffee here so probably haven't worded it right. Lol .
What I'm meaning for you to consider is if you lift say 800with a regular bucket (no idea just numbers) then with the bmg swing grapple putting the load out there you will have significant loss of capacity just over the weight...
You're going to lose more than 20kg of lift capacity due to the leverage applied by the grapple. This isn't 20kg at the pin, this is 20kg dangling out there.
I hear what you're saying Cory. I'll defer to those that've run both as I've only used a BMG, never a grapple bucket. I find he bmg very slick, well worth the money. Mines on a ramrod 950, a mini skid, and with it and my 250xp I can process some tree.
Ahh I get yah Sean, on the garbage can you mean. Right?
I find hanging a handle on works fine and I often do it while taking a grapple full of brush at the same time and the bucket hanging off one handle keeps it kind of to the side, out of the way.
Willie, I open my grapple all the way and lay it down flat on the ground and use it to rake/bunch smaller bits into piles large enough to grab or stuff in garbage cans. It actually does surprisingly little impact.
Bmg, essentially turns a mini into a grapple skidder. I'm always amazed what I can drag with that sucker. I've often thought the bmg rake and scoops along with the grapple would be slick.
I'm really having a hard time envisioning a bucket grapple stuffing a chip. The bmg can drag whatever the capacity of the machine it's on will handle. I drag backwards to the tray, turn the machine 90-180 as I'm near the tray and if you've grabbed the butts long enough you just jam them into the...
