There is a bit of sit back, yes, but like Kevin and Pete said, it's a great hitch, and I'll compromise a bit. For me, it's not a huge issue, I'm not worried about the few inches of sit back I get. It tends so well, and releases so smoothly and grabs consistently, I can't ask more for a great...

Here is the cooper. Ran it today, loved it, smoothest hitch yet with the hh, whole set up runs like butter. I'm working on a video of a few knots I'll throw up weather permitting tomorrow.

I'll snap a few pics tomorrow. Sam Cooper posted it in a fb group, no one could find it anywhere so people just started calling it the cooper hitch.

A valdotain is just a prussic cord wrapped upwards around the rope any number of times, and then brought back down to the crab or dogbone or whatever. The user does not braid the knot as one does with the VT, but the way the knot collapses when weighted creates what appears to be a VT. Dress it...

Stig indeed has it nailed. I climbed off this same hitch, expect with 7 wraps. 7 wraps upward and back into the dogbone. The bottom wrap works its way down into a braid, forming what looks like a 6:1 VT, but in reality is a 7 wrap valditorian.

Double overhand for sure, just not fully dressed like they have stated. As for the friction hitch, I'd go with a 5:1 VT as well. The cross is basically a braid like they have mentioned already. And x2 on the money. Do we need to send it too you to reserve one?

I messed around with the hh a good bit so far today, pruning a huge, spreading oak. First I'm trying to figure out the best way to incoperate it into a rope walking set up. So far, it seems girthing a tether too the biner and connecting that to my hand ascender seems to work the best. Next...

Really hard to fit through the dog bone Paul, otherwise I would.

Cleaning up the gear bag today, trying some 8mm oceans with the hh now. Quick pic, hh and rw together.

Been meaning to post on here for awhile, I got a dogbone in Charlotte when I saw Paul and I must say, I like it a lot. I'm trying to divide my time evenly between the RW and HH to get a good comparison for them both. I'll post more feedback here after I have a bit more time to compare the two...

If you can't find Paul Derrick lemme know, I'll hook u up with him there or let you try my HH out.

Didn't mean any offense about it Paul, just going off what I've seen in pics. Also, is there any ideas floating around about how to do a dogbone with spliced hitch cord? I saw Dave's photo but it looks like his isn't very midline friendly. Wondering if there's any ideas out there about doing...

So I got to put some serious time on the HH today and must say I like it overall. I switched it up and went with a distel today, since that's the type of hitch most people seem to be using and it worked great. I was afraid there'd be too much friction, but the HH takes more friction away from...

Yep, sorry guys, between the weather and cleaning up that big removal job, and starting on a job dropping a bunch of trees I haven't had a chance to really put the HH through its paces. But luckily we have some great climbing coming up, pruning two good sized willow oaks tomorrow, and then a...

Yeah man, I wouldn't want it to relieve anymore. I did a comparison and used the exact same hitch for the HH and RW. It definitely released a lot easier on the HH, still grabbed reliably, but it took a lot less pressure to get it to release.

Messed around with HH on a small side job today, just doing some pruning on small osage oranges. First impressions are good, I like it so far. The thing I liked the most so far is how the HH assembly creates a hand hold of sorts to hold onto when ascending up, be it via foot lock or pantin. Felt...

BTW, Dave or Paul or anyone with an HH, quick question on the ascent system. Right now, with my RW, 90% of my ascents are with just a pantin and the lanyard over the shoulder trick tending my hitch. The pantin is a very integral part of the system for me, not just on my initial ascent, but...

My personal experience, any wear a rope causes in hardware will be smooth, with no sharp edges.
