It has been a very good saddle...comfortable and rugged. I am learning to love zip ties...have them at strategic locations in tool bag, trailer, shop, truck. I also keep a good set of side cutters nearby to trim excess. Regular cutters leave a razor sharp tip/spike barely sticking...
Evan...good to see your set up...and good to see hanging out. Looks like the zip ties are to keep the saddle saw biner in a constant orientation. I have a big biner on my MCRS too but it flops some...I'll try your idea.
Yep, I understood that. I threw the one hand stuff out there because it has been drilled in to me to keep it to a minimum. I can see where it is quicker than changing work positioning to be able to use two hands. I don't do production tree work so I try to take time to get into the best work...
Yep:...at 7:10...lots of one handing in the video. He looks very comfortable and smooth in what he does but 1 handing is the exception for me, not the norm.
Good points on the saddle...it is a very good system...helps make work positioning simpler.
I do like the buckle waist belt...also took me awhile to figure out where to best tuck the end of the belt. I can squeeze it into that same webbing slot as Sean but a dedicated retainer slot would be easier.
DMc...I made that adjustment. It DiD help...the leg pads are a lot better now.
I spent a lot of time about a week ago on a takedown in a maple where I had a lot of time hanging in the saddle...anytime on spurs the MCRS was very comfortable. But after spending several long sessions with almost...
DMc...I am still liking the MCRS. I have at least 8-10 hours in it now and am finding it comfortable. The New Tribe Pro may be a tad more comfortable but it's close. I do like how the leg pads can be slid back and forth as needed. They have been "pinchy on the boys" a few times and I am...
I have started experimenting with a PAW on the bridge. The PAW may get too twisty...not enough time trying it yet to know. I have a Rock Exotica swivel that might help but waiting to see.
And some gratuitous pictures of my tree trailer.
It seems like some of us are starting to get the MCRS.
I have a Matt Cornell right now...just started using it last week, used it for a removal over the weekend.
I am liking it so far...this is the first real rope bridge I have had...my previous saddle has been a New Tribe Pro (Ness) and it...
