    Good way to put it.

That seems to sum up a lot of the complexity of this thread.

Stig, you are a vegetarian, right? If so, I'm curious what your reasoning is for it.

Nice picture, and nice to hear another perspective. More power to them. I don't often hear that these days about fishermen, except those fishing in Alaska, where the waters are very productive and perhaps the world's best managed. More often I hear of poor ROI and switching from one stock to...

Remember back in those days, people would make their own tee shirt slogans all the time, with the block letters that would get heated/ironed on? I don't see that anymore. Theres plenty of wacky tee shirts out there, but seems you have to pick from a pro manufacturers offerings.

Hell, ma brotha, I never took it that way at, not even a little. Its definitely all good. You perspective is always most welcome. I'm usually in wholehearted agreement with most of your points of view anyway, so if we disagree, well then that just makes things more interesting. It is...

Yes, eating low on the food chain is a good thing on every level, afaik. I absolutely love to eat meat but eating factory farmed meat is bad news, and eating or using products of endangered species is, duh, bad. It feels dopey up here on a soapbox but, damn, that whaling got me pissed.

Jay, thoughtful, balanced, and well reasoned as usual. You mentioned disruption of whaling causing harm to "villages", well I sniff a little corporate greed being the real driving force behind the factory ship pictured hunting in Antartica. Grounding that ship would probably put 5 skilled...

http://www.outsideonline.com/news-from-the-field/Japan-whaling-in-the-Antarctic-Ocean-may-be-over.html Is it just me, or is that an awful picture? Selected, no doubt, to incite. It worked. Jay, can you shed any light on the Japanese views on whaling. The article says Jap interest is...
