So I woke up at 5am and thought about the job for an hour. Figured a mat highway would be pretty good but that's a lot of mats to move by hand. Then all the sled info here got me thinking of an alturna mat 'sled' with smooth side down, could probably get a lot done-load it up and pull it out...

For fairly deep snow, sounds like sleds would be less work than a 200' mat highway (to the one remaining removal at same site), but I don't have a sled right now so guess I'll try the mats.

Mighty tough plastic. Thanks. Geez how did I miss the sled bandwagon:?

The vid of dragging the log-filled sled and rider up the green slope makes me wonder how the pull rope attaches to the sled.

Wow, good vid and good to hear about how tough and useful those sleds are.

Nice. I had all my tools working too-wheelbarrow, ball cart, and AT. AT ran circles around the others, even with the big log moving.

Geez, don't those get smashed by 250lb pieces of wood? And how do you move brush with them?

Ha we were thinking skis on the wheels would be nice. I'll google jet sleds.

yeah, that sounds good. I shoulda done something different, either mats or snowblower. The custy is super sensitive about his lawn which was soft under the snow. Mats probably would be just right. And I guess they are probably fairly easy to move with an AT.

Used an AT for the first time yesterday. Clearly the AT is a superb tool, but whoah sucky job moving 4 tons of white pine 250' thru 10" of snow to the chipper:whine:

Good point, Sean Sawman, no not yet. Trying to decide whether to buy one or go homemade.

Um wait a minute. My wheelbarrow rules at moving stump grindings. With the AT I suppose I'll have to mess around with plywood sides and front/back?:/:

We rarely do no-access work but, since the wheelbarrow broke, might as well step up.8)

I say we need more vids of you climbing :drink: Btw, are those chainsaw pants you are wearing in the vid? If so, do you like em, who makes em, and how hot are they? Thanks

No doubt. The srt work you were doing was excellent to watch and of course looked like the perfect approach to the job. You haven't been srt'g all that long, have you done jobs like that Ddrt?

I kinda figured those were the fir branch tips from your saddle vid. Nice vid. Hey btw, do you have any before and after pics of that big fir? That would be interesting to see.
