    White oaks and elms are where I find this usefull, they have that horizontal growth right at the very top which makes it a real pain to get those limbs without some sort of aid

    Daisy chain the excess and hook the end to the carabiner on my saddle to keep it from swinging around.

    Once I got my CElanyard a couple years ago I started doing less and less of this. No need to, I have the longer one and it really is like have a second climb line sometimes

    I like doing this on big trees that don't have much work, but the work that is there is spread out all over. Gives me some extra security when the rope angle is unfavorable, and saves me a lot of up and down, over and under for one piece of deadwood.
