Go Deva, AM, FTW! Go Peter, (what's its name?), FTW! How are the vibrations? I wonder is a piece of plywood would make it less work to swing it back and forth. The handlebar Dosko has a wheel brake so it would pivot. You've probably seen that.

CoolVest For The Win! Maybe a pop-up shade canopy.

Face shield and glasses almost always here. I jabbed myself in the chin with a stub yesterday when I picked up a piece of tree, and the 'handle' broke off in my hand. I was lifting, so my hand just popped up when the stub broke free. Could have been 5" higher. In emergency medical training...

Just depends on access and size. A root wad might not fit through a gate, and might be quite heavy.

I suggested a crane ONLY to hoist out a heavy, irregular stump that is 100% free of the ground, loading right into a dump truck/ trailer.

Do you mean pull them with the crane? Are they already free from the ground enough? A saws-all/ reciprocating saw and a lot of blades might be in order, too.

You can possibly winch one stump off of another other, working on both at the same time. Probably occurred to you. Soaking the ground with a sprinkler overnight might help.

Check with SOTC/ Willie. He had to cut next to a house in the dirt, IIRC. How big? I'm told that a carbide chain is slow. Its not magic, unfortunately. Seems like lubrication will be a problem. I'd rather have a pressure washer, and find out if it does/ doesn't help. If you're manually...

I wonder about one of those screw auger stump breakers on a mini. I've only seen them on a big tractor.

I'll bet as much as possible, for replanting in the same hole. A good thing to find out in advance.

How about a doug-fir that someone tried to burn out? Green versus old, solid stumps?

The species are good additions to the thread.

Buried trees can be dug and peeled off bark. You have clean wood underneath to cut. I had this with a septic install, and a rockery island planting bed.

Do you just buy new and sell your chains. A local guy does that.

Some sort of "green wheel" for sharpening carbide??? Respirator??

I tried green teeth years ago when I first got the machine. A hair too narrow to accept the ones I tried. I have Vermeer yellow jackets, double sided, easy to change. I have a shield of hinged plywood. Too heavy, to hard to set up on a slope or with wind. I like the idea behind the Stein...

After three or so years, I've decided that I should fix my grinder, and have had the time. Yes, I dislike grinding, but recognize I can do it alone, with minimal body wear and tear, along with low risk. I have a 25 HP Rayco super jr from back in the day. A small back yard machine. What...
