What does the Release of Liability do? Is it to say they were in and out, finished with no damage, therefore no more liability for anything on the site? FWIW, I use a one page contract. -Demographic info -Scope of work -payment and terms (timing) -then printed and signed name and date...

You don't know at what price they would have done the work, or not done the work. They may have cut down the job to a price they could afford. Also, might be worth printing out your quote, and putting it in your bidding book. You've mentioned you're lower priced than your competition...

I wonder what it would be like to drop stuff conventially, then pick it up from the ground at nearer to max capacity, statically. PITA, I'm sure.

That CO played it cool, getting the cab swung around to the high side, so as not to be crushed, from what I can see.

Safer going over in the crane, maybe. Hard to say, "we want to know if we're caving your basement wall before we tip the crane over. Camera is a silly idea, unless it isn't. Why take such a risk?

Paul, can you use steel plates/ beams for dunnage? My CO rents plates outside of his lifting work, for spanning leach fields, etc. Don't know if he uses them on soft ground. Maybe have a video camera monitoring the inside the basement, with a screen outside.

I might be having a brain fart, Paul. How do you use that built-in chain grab hook to your advantage? Its been a while...as I remember, my crane op has a locking hook on the end of his cable. Maybe not locking. He hangs a big oval link with (2) 15' chains with hooks. Generally, its just a...

When you don't have a crane, and sometimes when you do, is great to be able to tow your machine, unload your machine and pull your trailer. Saves so many trips out hand carrying. I put all my climbing rigging and clean up gear on board, and toes it into the back yard, as applicable. Do you...

My crane guy has locking hooks all the way. I hadn't considered this concern. Thanks, Jomo. I"ll store that away in the toolbox for other cranes.

Again, I know very little about crane set up. What's the story on how one outrigger extended more than the other affects the crane, if at all. My guess is that if the footing is solid, it's a matter using the chart for the shorter outrigger. I don't know if it would torque the crane in a funny way.

What is your uphill dunnage like? looks like plywood. I know very little about setting up on a slope. Seems like cutting a flat spot into the slope, without disturbing compacted soil, creating a spot for timber dunnage, would be way more solid than being on a slope.

I was shocked on my first tornado to see a rear-mount grapple truck pulling a huge trailer, too. That was wild. I don't know how big, but big.

Looks like he was picking over the nose, with no weight in the bed. Is that normal? Looked like a bit of wind, but not much wind profile on that dead piece.
