I can guarantee that the thief is either a former or current employee. Nobody else will know your setup and security measures well enough to attempt it.

I'll hold out with my old stock and see what the market brings over the next couple years. I'm so thankful I'm not forced to deal with the current mess.

One of my local dealers assembled one for me once. Put the chain on homeowner-tight and then fired up the saw and held it a full throttle until the chain got hot and stretched out enough to spin halfway decent. I cussed him out for that and never bought another saw from that shop.

Yeah Cory, the muffler screen is a given. Just imagine the muffler being pressurized and the hot air is trying to escape through the tiny muffler hole. Just enlarge the hole so the pressure can get out easier, without aiming it towards heat sensitive parts such as plastic covers.

I'm so glad I packed away a couple extra 200Ts to last me until the dust settles and a new champion is crowned.

Richen up the low speed jet slightly. Sounds like the saw is running a bit lean when warm.

We have a long day tomorrow and I'm going to try and get to the track tomorrow night, so there won't be a lot of extra time for fiddling.

You said you have a couple to break in, were they put together and adjusted by the dealer or did you get them still in the boxes? If they are assembled and fueled then the dealer already did it. If they are still dry in the boxes then maybe you could do a little test. Grab two identical saws...

Cory, once the saw has been run for 5 minutes it's too late. The rings and piston are already hardened and 90% of the ring seating is already complete. Think about when you hit a saw chain with a grinder. The instant heat hardens the tooth so if you go back later with a file it's really hard to...

Cory, I don't know about the 201s. I haven't run a 201 yet, I was just posting what I've learned about the 200T over the last 10 years. I've seen several dealers do the initial firing up over the years and most of them do it similar to how I posted. They usually do it back in the shop out of...

The dealers are supposed to do it, yes. Some dealers (such as the one I used the last couple of years) don't do it properly and the saws run weak. Go back and read my previous post again for clarification if you missed it. The saws I bought recently 'in the box' were NOT set up by the dealer...

The break in procedure is critical on these saws if you ever want any power out of them. You need to fire them up and peg the throttle right off the bat, and hold it pegged for about 60-90 seconds. Then rev it a few times and cover different RPM ranges for another 30-60 seconds. Then peg it...

Well that explains how they were scamming the markup, they gave me regular bars instead of the lightweight bars.

That was 2 weeks ago. I bought four out of their last dozen and on the last one they jacked the price up on me and gave me dirty looks. :what:

Well then it would only make sense that the chain would also make just as much difference on the 200T as well. The chain doesn't care what the model number is on the side of the saw case.

Scott, did you see my earlier post about cutting the screen insert in half rather than removing it altogether? The outlet modification looks good!

    MS201T

When I was in SC this week, Scott had a 201 muffler opened up on the bench in his garage. He said he couldn't leave the screen out because the exhaust flow would burn the side cover. Perhaps a modified screen removal technique might work and still route the exhaust through the existing outlet...

Brendon, your new 200T will be on your doorstep Monday.

They can't ship it out of state, Stihl protects its dealers and forbids selling out of their area. I would have to buy it as an end user and just ship it out myself.

I can still grab a couple 200T's here if somebody wants one. With a 16" bar they are $609 plus 6.5% tax. The 14" bar is $599 plus 6.5% ($638.95) PM or email me if you want me to pick one up and mail it to you. They had 15 left a week ago.
