Yeah I wanted a 50 in cannon, as they made here in Canada....but I almost fell off my chair at the price of them.

I've had it about 6 years Jed. It's a euro model so has a higher Rev band than the North American Models....I don't know why that is. Since I had it moded a couple of years ago, it's the best big saw I've ever used. That's a 46 in bar there....but a real clumsy wide one....no sprocket at the...

Yeah the bag is patent pending at the moment. I wouldn't get much use out of spring boards if the last three and a half years is anything to go off. I'll leave that sort of thing to the pro fallers I think. Thanks

It still had a lot of weight forward....even with no limbs, and that tree must have been hammered by some big storms over the years. I was 90 % convinced it couldnt still blow out at the back, but at the same time I really had nowhere to run in that event. It was a bit awkward to bore, so I took...

Some vid here. Its 13 mins, but watchable. Tree turned out to be around 250 years old. So, I should probably change the thread title to 'not so tricky'....as it turned out. Use HD setting <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/20tQGYgI6sI" frameborder="0"...

Thanks. Yeah, went ok Ben. Was still late getting away because of the trees that got hit by the log at the far end. Even though no body goes down there at present and the 2 × 8 hour days was up. Don't like leaving a mess. Site was cleaner than I though upon arrival On the Thursday. Pretty...

itd gone totally dark by the time I'd finished fixing other trees that got smashed. The log was longer than I thought.

The job went well enough yesterday. Was a little taller than my 90ft estimate. Thanks for all the input. I'll put some video together soon enough. Heres a pic from the top.

The house is gonna come right up to where the tree is Tommy, apparently. They don't want the tree there with that in mind. There's lots of ways I could save the log....but not for free or without any appreciation. It's going down the cliff. They can pay to pull it back up if they want it that badly.

    Tricky one to do.

OK thanks. I just don't think we'll have the time, room, or capability to pull it up the hill. It's could be a 7 ton log if it holds together. we've crane out some of these slow growing sea front firs before and they've been heavy as fok.I don't think the truck would drag that up such a steep...

Not at all Jerry. I was bored to death toward the end of my last stint in the UK. I do miss many of my old colleagues, because they were my friends too.

    Tricky one to do.

Firstly, nothing bads gonna happen on my day. I don't take action without being sure of the outcome. I'm not concerned about working on the tree where it is there hanging on the cliff....so long as they didn't damage the roots when they dumped all that landfill for us to drive on. That trees...

    Tricky one to do.

Big part of the problem is the the tree company has priced the work as a 2 day project, on a day rate basis, to level all the trees and chip the foliage (gaurenteed)....and make the best of the time in leaving the big wood in as favorable situation that is fees able in that time period. The...

    Tricky one to do.

A awkward fir to take out next week. The owners are gonna build a house on the small lot there that you can see in the video. Theres another big fir to come out also...be that a much easier one, plus a collapsing arbutus over the wires which is a bucket job. The owners only prepared to pay for...
