What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

In my experience running the >100cc saws and watching videos of them, they can easily seem to be a step down from a good 90cc saw in terms of cut speed and wow factor, but I haven't compared them with larger than 42" bars. The new Stihl 881 seems impressive, and I think it has dynoed 10hp or...

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I have been impressed with my 395xp stock, it would scream with an 8t rim and 32" full skip square grind. I lowered the depth gauges some, then again some more, and it would still scream through hardwood. I can't remember if I've run a 42" on it, but it seemed harder to load than a 390xp or...

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I don't like how the 201t I use often fights back when starting as if excess oil collects in the cylinder, or the ignition timing sometimes advances when pull starting. Whatever it is, I've never had so much trouble trying to pull start a saw unless it is 60cc+ with extra compression machined...

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I like my 550mkII. Dyno testing has shown it to be impressively strong for 50cc, with around. 5hp gain with a muffler mod, then porting is hardly worth the effort. I run a 24" 3/8 on mine. I plan to use full skip on it when I use up the original chain. I wouldn't say the power is impressive...

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I've run one. I don't mind the weight if it is proportional to power/cut speed, and that saw has some good torque. Now a mac with scratcher chain is a miserable boat anchor.

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I had a saw fire up after 15 or so years of sitting with old gas. I've also had a push mower not start after sitting for 2 years with extra stabilizer or storage additive in it's tank. That model of mower was known for not starting after sitting over the winter. The brass jet would plug with...

Look up videos, it works. Probably not good for the engine though.

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

Gas engines have been known to run on diesel, it's the sparks that allows them to run. Then there's that issue of how diesel detonates, but the high octane rating of gas slows it's burn, so maybe if designed properly, gas might work out ok. It was old fashioned gas in the day to so maybe it was...

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I think they are too close to have a definite winner, I'd base the decision on preferred brand. I prefer Husqvarna's better fit and finish. The 550mkII is definitely a strong saw stock. I'd run 3/8 chain. The .325 bar and chain that come with it are very good quality though.

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

Why must it be a dream? Other than the resale value of the 462 probably being half the cost of a 500i

All genuine parts? I have a low use 028 that isn't quite that clean

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

Just like how a 90cc will do the same to a 120cc, often times so well that it isn't worth getting a modded 120cc.

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

I don't know about a 064, but I got to run a stock (so I was told) red light 066, and it is very strong.

What's Your Favorite Saw You Own?

2511t, 490, and Jonsered 2188 due to their good power to weight (especially when modified) and I like their setup. I haven't tried a 572 though, but I've seen a modded one in person, and it is impressive. I don't mind using the 2188 for small stuff as a time saver, I actually prefer it, but it...
