Bees won't leave the brood come. It don't look good for that colony, did someone come get them?
The brood is the come that looks like peanut butter smeared on it. Under the dark cappings are baby bees.
Going rob honey from a second hive I setup in a friends garden. Looks like three gallons or so possible from this one. 2.5 from my log hive. Looks like I got Christmas gifts ready.
Bummer, you got sand bagged!!!!! They will got back to any part of the hollow section which has brood comb . A bee vacuum would really help at this point. Less bees flying around.
A smoker going will also help to mask the panic pheromone they are creating.
Pheromone is just bait IF they swarm . It won't make them do it. Swarming dis a build up of bees or a failing queen. Usually in spring when honey flow begins. At this point it would be best to leave them alone to build up winter stores. Try to catch the swarm in spring.........however, sometimes...
Good work. I supered my hive directly on top of log instead of cutting them out. I pulled ten medium frame of honey off last night. It will yield about 2.5 gallons
I was fully suited up....one sting through the pants cuz I squised it. I used a bee vac to remove bees from the comb so it limits the number of bees flying. The comb was saved and put into a hive and then bees were added back.
Al, I be a beekeeper would come get that chunk of wood. Sounds like...
rainy bid day here.....few peeks of sun. I got a call for honey bees....I laughed, no way......hornets nest for sure! I ate crow on that one!!!!check it out!
totally exposed comb on the bottom of a oak 6"dia oak limb. Wierd! fellow beekeeper warned of africanized bees!!!
Any who.... climbed up...
