Nice work. Concur on the chasing the roots back to the stump before attacking the main stump. Can be tempting to go for it early but it's a false time gain. I never actually load the grinder till I'm certain, it's always the same, strap it down on the trailer and the blower finds another one...

Willard I think you overestimate the skill required to unload and operate a grinder, the wooden head who works for me was as proficient as me within a couple of hours. It's not exactly piloting a helicopter.

Do you mean A. That if someone else had one of those machines you'd lose all your clients, or B. That the lawn damage would lose you all your work. If the answer is A. you probably would, if it's B. You're wrong.

I have clients who are happy to have the mulch, it appeals to their green side. With pine stumps I mention that it might be a bit acid so good for azaleas and rhododendrons. With other stumps like oak I say it's the right PH for their normal beds. They pay more for removal of grindings, it's...

Some can be persuaded to put it on their flower beds as mulch.

Merle, for me stump grinding is the cherry on the cake, easy if a bit boring, super lucrative and an easy sell to lots of clients.

Acacia is a tough bugger to grind, if you can get a guy to do the top the finish it with yours, like Chris says, so much the better.

Willard I have used a machine similar to yours and then a more powerful one as you know. Once you get a really big digger in afterwards you can see no matter how hard you try there is always a fair bit left. If it's going to be lawn afterwards I won't go too mad.
