Thats suprising, .404 in .050ga. Did you switch that bar to3/8s? And if so do you see 3/8s as benificial on bigger saws with longer bars?

Also I think any replaceable bar tips you have will still work. I believe it is only the rails of the bar that are a smaller gauge. On ebay some time ago there were longer bars (happened to be GB) that were narrower gauge and sold cheap because it is not what we're used to in the US.
