We were encouraged to expel the squirrels but bird nests with eggs or hatchlings were a no no. They all like to raise their younguns in streetlight heads where it's nice and warm at night. Some of them get a little too hot when they make contact with exposed terminal blocks:O
Good for you Cory. That's amazing they've already had babies that far north. I once watched a flying squirrel round up her babies that were scattered on the ground and fly to another nest with them. Great mothering instinct.
This one actually was brought to us by a neighbor who found her as a little pinkie in her yard. The previous ones had come from tree jobs and streetlights.
Nah, she loves attention. When they're young, they're feisty and love to wrestle and play. As they get older most of them chill out and like to be rubbed and petted. Kind of like me;).
I've never encountered an aggressive squirrel in a tree, even those with a nest of babies, and they usually bail pretty quick in my experience. We don't inspect nests for babies but if we find survivors on the ground we put 'em in a bucket and call a local guy who raises them. My squirrel...
