Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

The job is postponed until the couple in the house have some more money on hand. Since it's a removal for that tree we can do that anytime of year. There's plenty of pruning that we are busy with as it is on other properties. My guess is after they have their taxes squared away and they make...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

The most challenging part for me is how to safely rig the pieces down without hurting the roof or myself. I have a couple of different ideas from people here and I think I have a much better grasp of what I should do. Thanks to everyone for posting!

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

La becasse mentioned it being a wood shingle roof and it's not. It's actually an asphalt shingle roof that's probably a 3/12 pitch so it's even better to work off of than you were probably thinking. I think I will have to do a combination of that and what pantheraba above mentioned about using...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

I can't upload the other two files right now. That is possibly because they are over 4mb, maybe? It says "Upload of file failed." I will try and resize them if I can figure that out and post them later.

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

OP here. I have 4 pictures total but I could only upload 2 of them in this post. I will try and upload the other two in another post. Here is probably the best picture out of the lot. When I originally mentioned this tree I was relaying some information from the client. She had mentioned...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

This is OP. I'm sorry I have been absent from here. I have busy with work including at this client's house. We decided not to cut that branch because of its size in proportion to the rest of the tree. The client is considering removing that tree entirely but is weighing their options. I think...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

Thanks again to everyone for all of your points and recommendations. I am going to drop by there tomorrow and do a second assessment of that poplar limb in the back. I did get the go ahead from the client to do the rest of the work beginning next week with the understanding that they might see a...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

Bingo. It gets a bit vertical towards the tip but that doesn't help me much when the branch is only a few inches in diameter. It's unsteady limb walking the whole way out.

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

The poplar branch is a concern for the client because it goes so far out over the house and due to its size. We have tornadoes come through all of the time and even a small tornado could stress that branch due to its position and size. I am personally not concerned at all about the client...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

My primary concern is my safety. I will be taking the limb down by pieces and the client will be paying the price to have that done. I am just use to easier jobs where I don't have such an extreme angle between me and my TIP. Thanks for all of your advice. I am actually going to get a friend to...

Safely piecing down high branch on tree?

I potentially have a job for a client but I have a bit of an issue. There is a large branch on a tulip poplar that goes out over the client's house. It's the main branch on this tree and the largest. The client wants that branch removed. There is another decent size branch on the tree but it...
