Mick. It's an "eye for an eye" I agree. But if you have a solid reliable Echo dealer in your vicinity. .. support him. I have a little Stihl/Husqvarna story from the 1980's to share later....but right now I have to help my daughter's make Christmas cookies :D

Echo saws are a good solid unit , they don't offer the best warranty out there for nothing at 5 years. For a 8 Hour a day 5 day a week logging saw I would run either Stihl or Husqvarna's pro line. But the way I look at it arborist tree work is kind of casual farm type saw use right ? From what...

Yes I agree Stig......but that Redwood is a "giant" to that "midget" 30cc Echo.

Great stories Roger , thanks for sharing. Back in the day Homelites had excellent power to weight ratio saws, even for todays standards. Just weren't the easiest to work on and I don't think Loctite was invented yet. My older brother collects vintage saws, he has a Husky 2100 with only a few...

I carved sculptures with my first 020 in the late '80s then switched to the new style 020AVT in 1995; then had about 5 after that. Good saw.

My stock NE 346XP with a generous muffler mod can almost keep up to my stock 562XP. But the 3 - 550XP's sponsored for my saw competition by Husqvarna Canada are strong saws right out of the box. They must have had some " in house tweaking" ha ha. This video from Feb 2013 competition starts...

I don't know for sure yet I can convert it, busy tree season at the moment so may go into the winter as a winter project. The top cover has to be lowered and the air filter mounted lower rearward. New fuel tank with top rear handle attached with a hinge [for access to the air filter] which then...

    What do you currently run?

Climber saws: I run a modified Husqvarna 338XPT-14" and for backup a modified Husqvarna 346XP-16". But I'm in the process of converting my 346XP into a top handle saw. Should have the project done in a month or so. If this new saw should work out I won't have any need for the bulky T540XP.
