It was fun looking through the Tajmahorsebarn photos again. A great project for some important friends.

I've got a ton of 10' and 12' pine logs that need to get milled into pretty much anything. A bunch will just be 3x4 dunnage, but others will make nice timbers. I've decided to cut them for a small open sided pavilion big enough for a picnic table and a grill. I'm going to try a hipped roof, as...

Probably leave then like that. The light rust is from soaking in vinegar. Didn't do much. Pickeroon belongs to a friend. I got LogRite to send him a new one.

Trying to get the last door, for now, done on the horse palace. I found some antique strap hinges, and surprisingly, a pair of drive pintles that matched. I wasn't sure of the installation technique, so I tried it on some dunnage. Looks like a 1/2" hole and send it.

90% done with siding. Front is done. I built a little roof over the door track. There will be another piece on the front when the track is in. I think the horse may take up residence before the doors are done.

Getting down to the final details. We got more siding on, and installed my idea for a drip cap over the tack room door. It's a small detail, but makes a big difference.

Yes, we're offsetting. We were going to ship lap, but didn't work out a system, so just went with the no fuss two layer system. It's got some advantages. If you have boards that might lose a knot over time, you won't have a big hole in the siding. There's no machining necessary. You can use...

I'm trying to figure out how to live in it. Not sure the horse would appreciate it, however.

Finished all of the 1/2" layer today. We have about half of the 1" layer done also. Should have it done next weekend, pending a replacement drive belt for the sawmill.

Siding the Tajmahorsebarn. 1/2" sub layer with 1" outer. No gaps, no ship lapping.

Job security. Actually, it was out of necessity. No money for a more substantial foundation, and ledge just a foot down. I expect it to outlast pt easily. It's really not much different than being on a dry laid foundation. If they pile it full of horse manure, it doesn't matter how high off the...

Black locust. It'll last two years longer than the stone is sitting on. My wood boiler is sitting on two white pine 8x8s in the dirt with sawdust and bark pulled against them since 2014. I am surprised they've lasted this long, but they aren't ready to be replaced yet either.
