Kevin, it is a terrible idea to underestimate what the world around us is capable of doing and has done. It is even worse to use it as a justification as to how we should behave. Because a glacier can scrape a continent down to bare rock does not mean that we should do the same thing.

What a great post, Burham. I would like to take you up on this statement, however. I believe that I have a better than average understanding of how complex systems work and the only way I can see this happening is by using a faulty plan.
It would appear there is a large discrepancy in what the average Canadian believes is happening and what is actually being done.
