I know of a certain orange tree in my portfolio of things I would have rather not done what the customer wanted but did because it was her tree and not mine. :)

I also would have recommended removal... Looked like most of what was left of it was epicormic growth anyway. More of a liability than a tree I would "salvage". I vote removal and replant a nice tree for the next generations to enjoy. JMO and .02 worth.... :) But I am sure Guy (Treelooker) is...
