Very true!!!!! Stig. I like a good representation of the species combined with a good hunt but really I'm a meat hunter. Pure trophy hunters kinda gross me out. . I think they diminish hunting. With bears I'm more into problem animal control than trophy hunting.

Now remember that is an Interior Grizzly. The coastal brown bear get bigger skulls in some areas like the Peninsula, the Prince William Sound and the Kodiak group of islands. But that's still a pretty huge bear.

Lots of people think bow hunters are just, ohh, soo cool. Well this week there is a story in the news where some bow hunters used an air boat to herd a moose in the Knik river area and shot it from the boat. . They got BUSTED . Now A.D.F.+G will have another air boat they can use.:D:lol:

There is too much wanton waste of meat in Alaska. Most if it done by the city hunters. In the past some of the guides were very bad about wasting the meat also. The clients don't want to pay to have their meat flown out so the guides would just let it go. A.D.F.+G. Now has helicopters so...

Most of subsistence caribou is pretty much just that. Meat hunting. . Rural Alaska residents can get a tag or tags to take animals via fair chase. .the Nupiak, Whale hunts are a totally different deal. But they are still subsistence. The general caribou season is closed around here...

Really great pic. !!!!! I was outside last night just before midnight and heard a trumpeter swan fly by. . I think a predator must have tried to get it where it was over nighting. Sure did sound lonely. I don't remember ever hearing one at night.

Well. I worked all thru moose season and most of the first caribou season. Now with the feds shut down, of course they have to make it hurt as much as possible so our federal subsistence 2 nd bou season may not open. But all fur season opens soon or is open. We don't have snow on the ground...

Dog fish/ salmon sharks stink. . Tho we have some of the big sharks up here like hammerheads. I've not been up close to one.
