It might very well have arced to the lower boom cylinder rod. Too many years ago. I know it scared me and the guy in the bucket hooted like he was having a good time.

I have seen power co. crews pound in a ground stake and hook their truck up to it. It sounds like the truck wasn't grounded and arced from the rims to ground. Nobody got hurt anyway.
