    Those "Dremel " type stones aren't bad to save a rocked chain .I salvaged about a dozen of those hard Stihl chains from the tool boxes of Toms trucks this spring that his guys managed to rock out .Lawdy it would have taken me a month of Sundays with a file or rather a dozen files .

    Good old Husky shit in their mess kit about 15 years ago when they more or less told the local Stihl dealers us or them .Now there are no Huskys save Lowes or TSC locally .I'm a thinkin that power play didn't go so good for them .

    Huge is only a west coast thing .We in the midwest have large but not huge . On that though ,just like the left coast,either slice and dice or in our case in the heart land it becomes part of fine furniture or fine trim for houses .--the rest is fine firewood .

    On that micro on the 200's I've got a little 12" I run on the super bee .To tell the truth though I don't see it as being much faster than standard 50 thou chain .I think it's Carlton chain .

    On that a lot of times the rakers are only set for 22 thou . What that does in effect is roll a thin chip which because the gullet goes clear to the tie strap thusly holding more chip before the tooth rocks out of the cut .It's still a big chip just thinner .

    I always kind of wanted to build a bike saw just never did .Maybe some day and get someone else to run it .I came to the realization these youger gents have much faster reflexs than I .You could get the fastest saw in the world but without a good sawyer you're dead in the water .

    Yes that's certainly more so than a 20" .Around here though they run the 36's on 066's and 42 s and up on the 084 .I know of of no 88's .Damned few 084's for that matter .Well one in my shed that's only cut cants the last three years if that accounts for any thing .At that rate it should last...

    As I've said I've never seen a 3/8" bar in large mount Stihl size .I'm sure they make them though . Well that is to say never in a long bar one would associate with a saw of that size .Nobody runs 16 and 20" inch on a Stihl 088 but racers .Well ,maybe Stig ,I forgot .:lol:

    I've never seen 3/8" chain used on an over 100 cc saw except as a racer .I would imagine though if it were then the heavier drivers would be prefered .

    No on another web forum the Aussies claim it's what they use and .050 is rare in Oz .Now as I take it 3/8" in .063 is a west coast thing because I've never seen it around here .

    I've never seen .404 in 50 thou driver thickness .I do have one of the last rolls of 58 thou .404 Baileys ever had .That is rare now also . That 3/8 you have Jay is most likely .063.

    I just think .404 was a throw back used on older saws that continued to the present .Some of the west coasters use it and some 3/8" from what they tell me .It's kind of hard to find around here which doesn't mean much to me because I get my chains off the net .
