I think the notion of those GTG cookie cutter screamin meanies went out the door a few years back .People finally figured out those high ported screamers were not worth a pinch of coon chit for a work saw .

Now that deal with Brad I never saw that 201T ever and I see him two- three times a year .He must have flipped it to somebody else .

FWIW when Eddie from Stihl Va Beach sent me that Zama C1Q for the 200T he sent special instructions of how to tune it in .I never touched it and it ran like the bumble bee on steroids it used to . I'll dig them up and post them in a day or so .

Good question .Toms 201s' aren't that old if that means anything .One of those, one of his 441's and his 660 won't hold a plug .Now what's that about ? Bad plugs ,bad threads ? I haven't worked on his new saws so I have no idea .That is except the 441 he thought had blown a piston and all it...

That's what a local Stihl dealer said too but keep in mind he sells the things .On the other hand except for Stihl there is no competition locally in the higher end saw market.

Big hole aye .Off the wall again but I've got an old Mac geardrive that in essence is running open exhaust and loud enough to wake the dead .At idle it has to be set so rich it looks like it's burning soft coal or pine knots .When you gas it it takes about 10 seconds to burn up all that gas...

What so you bought one ?

If you remove the baffles it gives it one additional exit hole .It's got some diverters built into the alumium muffler halves .Grind out the rear ones gives it a straighter shot out the exit I have a picture some place .Now this is a 200T a tad off the subject .Some day I'll get my hands on a...

No it's not a POS it just doesn't have the snap of a 200T . I might be totally wrong but in running both 201 and a 441 it seems to me that engines of this partial blow down design using fresh air need to warm up with a couple cuts before they run right . Tom has two of them and that was his...

It would seem to make sense that possibley because of the design with basically non fuel laden air most of the blowdown occurs if a little more fuel might cure the problem . Quite frankly other that screwing a loose plug back in one the owner thought had burned a hole in the piston I've yet to...

Well the 200's once you pulled the plate it gave you an extra exit hole . I don't know what term you could give that muffer .It doesn't have the right shape for a true pressure can nor is it a multi baffled muffler .Just an aluminum muffler I guess .

Just speculating on this topic I do believe some improvements can be made on the 201T model .It seems ironic it would have to go that way after following the icon of trim saws being the 200T . If I can get my hot little hands on one and make some improvements I'll put it out for the whole world...

The flywheel comes of slick as snot on a door knob .Take the nut off and just tap it with a hardwood block and a hammer .Just tap tap tap now not like driving a rail road spike . You get the woodruff key off just tap the back of it which will raise the front .Then you can either snatch it with...

Oh fer crying out loud it's not that big of a deal to re-seal a 200T .Now get on it before you burn it up .;)

    MS201T

Yeah on the 200 that's the deal breaker .The part that really sucks is if you bust a crankcase from a fall or torch off a cylinder the freakin parts cost half what the thing cost new . When Tom had that leaker 020 the danged crankcase would have set him back 300 from a dealer .I found a good...

Actually I've had pretty good luck with after market although it's only been pistons and rings ,no cylinder .The pistons have been meteor and the rings both Cabar and Meteor . The cir clips that came with them weren't not worth a pinch of coon chit so I used the OEM clips from Stihl .The...

I also predict eventually you'll be able to buy replacement parts aftermarket for an 020/200 .If there is a big enough market for them someone will make them .

Well if that's the case ole Tom has a lot of angst because he's fought that thing most of the summer season . To tell the truth I have no idea how to pep one of those things up so I certainly would be of no help .

    MS201T

Like I said it's damage control .You won't find one dealer who sells the things ever saying they aren't as good as a 200T .That would be cutting their nose off to spite their face . Like I also said you folks that have the 200T and like them will either have to make plans how to preserve them...

I have no idea why Mark did that so late in the game .On that though at two local Stihl dealers they both allude to the fact that yes the 201T experianced problems early on but say they've been rectified .How true that is anybodies guess . Remember though stihl never admitted they had a...
