I turned my sidewinder 90 degrees yesterday so that the zip tie clips are facing down and the rope exit is facing up. It now sits much flatter and the lead out of the unit is better so rope in and out is smoother. Brilliant!

Thanks for those photos Bonner but I see you've got different zip ties to the ones supplied with mine. Mine are big, black and because they are removable, the clip makes the Sidewinder stick out by an inch. Need to find a better way.

Is anyone using a Sidewinder with the Cinch on the right side of the harness? It means the Sidewinder has to be upside down, I think, which could collect debris through the hole. Any thoughts? Thanks Al.

Cool, that's what I suspected about the mechanism but I had to ask because a couple of the Arbtalk guys came up with concepts that failed with the introduction of a bit of dust. Regarding the size, it's a non issue for me. Even if it's bigger I see at as a superior system to having the lanyard...

Paul that is wicked! A few guys on Arbtalk have tried this idea and a few of them on similar retractable spools but nobody got it to fruition. People argued that they were too cumbersome or looked silly. My opinion is "which is the lesser of two evils?" I'd prefer to have an RSW on my harness...
