What's Your Favorite Climbing and Felling Saw

What is the Circle of Death?

Might give you more time to see the split coming? I don't know that's why I'm asking. I have never even seen it happen. Heard of it though. Only seeking input here.

What is the Circle of Death?

Yeah those types of situations suck... not sure if it would actually help in the event of a split but whenever I am topping a lead or working down a spar, (Okay maybe 75% of the time) I 360 wrap the Lanyard on the spar as well as choke the climb system with either my friction saver or just the...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

X2 everything she said. I own both of those pieces of gear and they work fantastically for their specific applications.

    hinge du jour

Same thing I was thinking... but I wonder how it would work on a larger tree... I just stick to what I know works and occasionally try something new. All this stuff looks like it would take way too much time to set up. Rather just cut and push or something of that sort as you say.

https://youtu.be/UmRhYhGLUDU This one is for you Daniel, is this guy an Innovator or an Idiot? I am not sure... super crazy ideas people have sometimes... Not something I would be willing to try... most of my takedowns are very urbanized settings with many homes, walls, irrigation, etc. etc. To...

    hinge du jour

The video says it's an old loggers trick to keep the tree on the stump while you pull, keeps it from lunging off in any direction... like I said it could be pointless labor but it was interesting to watch nonetheless lol.

The official "Welcome New Members" thread!

Pun intended I bet, but yeah this place is the best. I literally check the forums every night before bed and in the morning with coffee lol. Welcome.

    hinge du jour

Well this thread got intense quick... as long as we are on the subject of hinges... this technique seems as though it would take quite a while to set up but the accuracy of the fall looks quite precise. https://youtu.be/mqSny3GF-x8 <iframe width="560" height="315"...

    Best Power Pole Saws/Pruners?

All of this is true. I have an Echo too. Has lasted me a long time. Runs just about as good as when bought and Ive had for 2yrs. They have their place... got to have a really steady hand if pruning but for removals they can be indispensable. On the other hand my old boss when I got into...

Skwerl's new chipper and chip truck

Just bought a 2002 7.3 with a flatbed on it, having my welder cut the knapheide bed off and put a hydraulic under it, going to weld up a custom chip body similar to the Arbortech stuff Ive seen. Great trucks, parts everywhere and they are quite mechanically sound. Simple engines with good power.

    having a little fun

Haha just joking but yeah they look like a purpose built set of spurs, I've even considered them for skinning palms or super long days on the spurs... over all I prefer regular stretching and weight lifting (Not all the time) to keep my flexibility. Massages help to get rid of adhesions in the...
