    This is the Akimbo

Yes - I clip the revolver straight to bridge. It would be AMAZING if in the future I could source a cam with an 11/16" hole. Like I said - most climbers will be more than happy with the size it is (or even smaller) - to each their own! All the best!

    This is the Akimbo

Thank you for your prompt reply Jamie (or is it Jaime? - I never know which). I meant the anchor point (sorry); I understand that for most climbers this size (5/8") diameter hole will be fine - as they probably won't want their biner barrel to roll into the attachment point. However, I am kind...

    This is the Akimbo

Can anyone tell me what size the hole at the clip in point would be as standard on the Akimbo?

    Skinny trees.

Thanks for all the tips/questions everyone - some really good stuff here to consider.

    This is the Akimbo

This is so cool - it's sparking off so many ideas in my head (like modifying/destroying a perfectly good rope grab/art positioner) - not that no-one's ever tried before. :blob5: Time, money, means... ect.

    This is the Akimbo

Just intrigued and baffled... I was trying to work out how the top arm and the lower arm could be approximately an inch closer together than the CBB (and also not need a further swivel chain-type link beneath the top arm)... Having never tried this yet - the best I can come up with is that the...

    Drone for Christmas

I see what your doing but as soon as you hit your first branch, then what? I like thinking out side the box, but I cant think of a spot were this idea would help Of course - you're right, it would not work in that situation. Was just an idea to try and address the type situation of situation...

    Drone for Christmas

Don't mean to derail this thread, and realise that I'm among those who have rope/throwline experience way beyond mine - but I was wondering if the following technique could be used to tie a running bowline just beneath the crown of this tree (I read it somewhere else online, but have never tried...

    Drone for Christmas

Same here; the Phantom 3 is the one I'd try next - looks to be the best combination of value and ability for those just starting out with drones. From what I read/see - there are also many ways in which it can be modified.

    Drone for Christmas

What kinda drone d'ya get treesmith? - What's it like? Did you mean to put it near the tree? :)

    This is the Akimbo

Love the phrase 'studied pace' - it's the way I like to do things too (though I'll probably never invent an akimbo ;) ). I'll be sitting on the sidelines in the next year - seeing how this develops. Plenty of climbers much better than I ready to report their findings. In the meantime - I still...

    Drone for Christmas

A throw/line could be reeled/spooled off from a drone. This might have some advantages over a (remote or otherwise) 'payload drop' system (which could be done) as the reel/spool is let out (depending on the tension/friction/weight) behind the drone on the line. I worry that the weight of the...

    Drone for Christmas

Thanks woodslinger - excellent resource. I'm totally out of my depth there, but everyone has to start somewhere, huh. Thanks lumberjack - your videos are amazing - you obviously know what you are doing. Of course, you're right - it would suck in many ways, but be a bonus for a few. Pros for...

    Drone for Christmas

Really know nothing about drones - bought a syma x11 with the crazy idea of using it to help set a throwline in a tree (and if that wasn't possible - just have a bit of fun). Fun was/is/still had though at around $30 this is really just a toy; if even just the battery is slightly moved in its...

The official "Welcome New Members" thread!

Hi everyone - I guess I'm transitioning from being an occasional lurker (depending on what I'm trying to find out) to actually posting a contribution here and there. I'm pretty sure I'll be slightly familiar with some of the posters here (in the online sense at least) from over at the buzz - my...

    pity on the noob!

Thanks sawman/George - your psycho profile pic doesn't quite match your name; maybe in a weird sort of a way - it makes sense! ;) I have to admit my real name is not craig - though prefer to use it on here for now. Thanks!

Ha - thank you MasterBlaster! - You've only gone and put up a beer icon though - I'm dying for one and there's none in the fridge! I'll get around to my profile... ;)

    pity on the noob!

Started on split tail blakes on biner, then went to closed blakes on ring (don't ask), then back to biner again - then to srt/ddrt on BDB. For a long time SRT seemed like some exotic, advanced thing for experts way above my skill level - then when I eventually got to try it; I was like 'This is...
