this is the new comp wall at my local climbing centre. its a brute. you can just see my rope hanging from my first attempt. i've since got a few clips further.

anyone know any good information on splicing wire rope? and good stuff to make a flip line out of. I'm thinking of a wire rope spliced at both ends and covered in some 16 strand. never done wire before, so my plan is to make a few and load them heavily to see how they fare.

I'd been asked to splice some tenex eye eye slings up but they needed super short splices. I used a locking brummel a 2" bury then another 1" reducing the hope to half diameter then another 1" finishing the taper.
I was concerned about this not being strong enough as it would be used single...
Here's what i did today, not so much of a challenge more of a tiny pet project. i'd spliced the other end but i figured i'd do this end with a whiplock as opposed to a lock stitch

Just had my first class in Thai kick boxing. I was paired up with the only other noob she looked at my shoulders, going easy i still hurt her arms. but then she kicked to high and got me in the hips.

While in the shower (clothed so there are no bad mental images :what:) i was thinking about Beeline Eyes. I tried a core to core splice that i have the directions for in Brion Tosses 'The Complete Riggers Apprentice'
and Barara Merrys ' The Splicing Handbook'.
