Like the ergos the best. *all ported so this doesn’t necessary apply to stock saws…a good porter will make it how you want it. This concludes today’s chainsaw nerd...

What powerhead? I have a bunch of different saws and bars, partly because I have to buy to try, plan is to narrow it down now that I’ve tried. But also because the trees here tend to be at least 36” on the stump, then codom trunks/limbs 18” up to big, and then a bunch of little branches…so a...

...not long enough to reach the ground and if I squat with a log on the ground it’s too long, goes in the dirt, and 24” is better. It is about the right length power wise for 70cc though imo. I’m probably dumb and overthinking. * 32” is a bit much for a 70cc husky buried. Ok on a ported 76cc 461…

It’s in the weld shop at work. One of my guys fabbed up supports for the outside part on the tongue of the trailer. It’s 100 degrees here and getting hotter. Here is the inside half. Mini split AC units are great. Low amp draw, cheap, basically silent. I have one ton in my upstairs office at...

    How'd it go today?

Back at work. Just feel wrung out and a big fat headache. Contractor guy I know showed up and dumped some mostly dirty junky logs in the shop yard that we had kinda talked about. Dump truck spread them out so I played with a big loader we just finished fixing, pushing them together until I can...

…a carb mixes the fuel where it first comes in and there are issues with it staying mixed and burning completely. Fuel injection right in the cylinders with modern tech puts the exact amount in the in the exact place at the exact time. Notice how much quieter modern diesels are? I’ve heard the...

    How'd it go today?

Basically, it’s really hard to get the fuel exactly right all the time, so for more power they just have extra. And yes, older engines when set up for high rpm power didn’t work well at lower rpm. One of the big advances in modern engine power and fuel economy is variable cam timing.
